Kate Hyland Mercer President In 2002, Kate founded Business Concepts, Inc. to help business owners build or grow their service-based companies and produce positive and measurable results. As president, Kate leads the firm's service areas in executive and business success coaching and advising to support clients' core business strategies. An entrepreneurship enthusiast, Kate has coached both aspiring entrepreneurs and "solo-preneurs" on start-up strategies and accomplished business owners on accelerating their business success. Kate's 16+ years of practical experience and knowledge span operations, information technology, customer service and retention, partner and employee issues, supplier/vendor management and general management. Seven separate companies count her as a founding advisor or leadership team member. Throughout her career, Kate has led teams for a wide variety of businesses in multiple markets including defense contractors, logistics, higher education and consulting organizations. Prior to starting Business Concepts, Kate co-founded and ran Cardinal Group International in 1996, serving as the software company's President and Chief Operating Officer for six years. Under her leadership, Cardinal Group was profitable and enjoyed revenue growth of more than 25% every quarter. As a sought-after speaker and educator, Kate has addressed countless organizations and government bodies, and has taught in graduate and undergraduate programs at Harvard, Boston University, and the University of Massachusetts. She participates in the International Coaching Federation and Business Networking International, is an ambassador for the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the board of directors of several non-profit and privately held companies.
